The Reverend Angus Stuart

Rector

Rev. Dr. Angus Stuart

Angus Stuart arrived in Canada from England in February 2005 with his wife, Christine, and children, Aaron (born 1990) and Anna Mae (born 1993) to become Rector at St Francis.

For the previous nine years he was Senior Anglican Chaplain at the University of Bristol and before that was Curate at St Mary-the-Virgin, Twickenham in the Diocese of London. He trained at Cranmer Hall in St John's College, University of Durham. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Geography and Theology and a PhD in which he studied people's experiences of ageing and environment.

For a number of years Angus has been involved in the Thomas Merton Society of Great Britain & Ireland (www.thomasmertonsociety.org) and is currently a member of the Thomas Merton Society of Canada (www.merton.ca). He has organized conferences and presented papers in the UK and Canada and has edited two volumes of papers from the UK Merton conferences.

Other interests include a passion for jazz and blues music (check out www.kplu.org), Jack Kerouac and the Beats, all things Vespa and hiking in vast empty places.

The Reverend Janice Mount Lowell

Associate Priest

Rev. Janice Mount Lowell

Janice Mount Lowell begun her dual ministry of Associate Priest at St. Francis-in-the-Wood and Priest in Charge at St. Monica's, Horseshoe Bay in November 2011. Before this, Janice completed a joint position as Assistant Priest at St. Andrew's, Langley and Holy Trinity, White Rock

Prior to becoming a priest, Janice spent 23 years in the healthcare profession, including patient care, staff development and administration. She has worked in rural nursing and public health; teaching hospital and trauma center; and ten years in hospice and palliative care.

Becoming ordained as a priest in 2008 was a twenty year old dream which drew her back to Canada after many years living in the US in the Chicago area, Minneapolis, Boston, Mackinac Island, MI and most recently Tampa Bay. Janice was the fist in her family to receive university degrees including BA in French/Psychology; Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Masters in Public Health,; and Master of Divinity.

As well as being a third generation Registered Nurse, she is (on her in-laws side) a third generation priest in the Episcopal Church (ninth in the family and the first woman!) She has one son, Matthew and her parents live in sunny Florida.

Janice loves include BBC film, needlepoint and, of late, designing Celtic knots.

Caitlin Beaupré

Music Director

Caitlin Beaupré

A recent graduate of the University of British Columbia, Caitlin studied voice and choral conducting with well known conductor and vocal clinician, Bruce Pullan. Caitlin was the director of the UBC Vocal Jazz Ensemble, sang with many ensembles including the UBC University Singers with whom she traveled to Ireland in 2004 to compete in the Cork International Choral Competition, and Austria in 2006 to celebrate Mozart's 250th.

In June 2006 Caitlin was seen in her first operatic role as Amore, angel of love, in Gluck's Italian opera "Orfeo ed Euridice" produced by Magi.

Caitlin began her professional vocal career singing with the Vancouver Cantata Singers in August of 2003 at which time she also sang as the soprano section leader and member of the solo quartet at Holy Rosary Cathedral.

In September 2005, Caitlin began singing with the prestigious Vancouver Chamber Choir directed by Jon Washburn.

Currently Caitlin is singing with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and the Vancouver Cantata Singers. She has been the musical director at the Capilano Suspension Bridge, and she is the music director for the UBC Gilbert & Sullivan's February 2007 performance of Iolanthe.

Prior to attending UBC, Caitlin was a student at the Jennings Institute for Performing Artists directed by Marnie Jennings. Here she studied piano, voice, acting, music history and theory, and dance (ballet, jazz, tap, Irish, hip-hop, modern).

Phil Colvin

Youth Director

Phil Colvin Phil Colvin came to St. Francis from England in October 2006 at the end of a world tour which saw him work and travel in almost a dozen countries over the course of a year. Before that, he spent two years working as the Chaplaincy Assistant and a Pastoral Tutor at the University of Bristol. He graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2003 where, as well as studying for a degree in English and Creative Writing, he spent evenings in darkened rooms editing the film section of the university's student newspaper.

Phil has worked with youth around the word, from placements in an orphanage in Bulgaria to a favella school in Brazil and a drug rehabilitation centre for Tibetan youths in northern India. He has also worked as a counselor and program director at summer camps in the United States. Currently he co-facilitates the Leadership, Experience and Adventure Program at the Sorrento Centre, and Junior Co-Ed summer camp at Camp Artaban on Gambier Island.

Since September 2008 Phil has also been working as the Diocesan Youth Coordinator for New Westminster. When he's not doing either of his jobs (and sometimes when he is) Phil will be catching up with all the books and movies he believes he has missed, hiking and skiing around the world with his camera and writing the occasional essay on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Liz Young

Parish Administrator

Liz Young is a long time resident of West Vancouver and has been involved with St. Francis since her early childhood - as a Brownie and Guide in her childhood and then as a leader of both as an adult! Liz's professional background is in finance, administration and human resources. She became the parish administrator at St. Francis in October 2011.

Liz ia a textile artist and graduate of the Textile Arts program at Capilano University. She primarily quilts and weaves and taught quilting on the North Shore for many years. She's married with two young adult children and two crazy ginger cats!
