Confirmation
Confirmation Class is a program for youth and adults who are considering Confirmation in the Anglican Church. The program generally consists of 8 - 10 hours of instruction on many of the key aspects of the Christian Faith. Classes generally run each year over a six week period between February and May, and are scheduled based on interest expressed by youth and adults to take the program and or be confirmed.
Because it is an open-ended program that only takes place when there is interest expressed on behalf of members at St. Francis, the dates and times usually are not set until January of each year. However, classes traditionally have run on Sunday mornings and/or evenings. The format and structure of the classes seeks an equal balance between formal instruction and open discussion, and operates in a casual and relaxed atmosphere.
As it is a Sacrament of the church, confirmation is taken very seriously by the members and clergy of St. Francis.
Consequently, there are several expectations that must be met by those seeking to be confirmed. They are as follows:
The person must already be baptised.
The recommended age for those seeking confirmation is 13 years or in grade 8.
100% class attendance is required.
They must be active members of St. Francis.
