Messy Church is a gathering for families with children; parents and children, grandparents with grandkids, aunties and uncles with nieces and nephews, godparents, etc... held on the fourth Saturday of each month from September through November, and again January through June.
Each Saturday of Messy Church is focused around the religious theme or date that is closest to our event, and features crafts, activities, a children's worship time and finally a meal shared by our Associate Priest Reverend Lanice Lowell, our participating families and the Messy Church Volunteers.
This time of fellowship offers an alernative to Sunday services, which are sometimes hard to fit into the busy schedules of families; and also a relaxed, family oriented worship time which is great for small children who may not be ready to attend Sunday School without their parents. Children from 1-13 enjoy the wonderful time together, the crafts, singing and bible stories.
Messy Church at St. Francis in the Wood is coordinated by Rev. Janice Lowell and Sarah Andrusco. We have a wonderful volunteer base but are always happy to welcome newcomers. These few hours each month are a great opportunity for high school kids to earn their volunteer/community service hours requirement towards graduation.
