Love Came Down and the Earth Stood Still

Future of Forestry- The Earth Stood Still EP

Friends,

Christmas provides many moments of memory making, love, and joy as we gather around our trees and tables to give thanks for everything this year has been. Something that I find most comforting about Christmas has always been how quiet the world becomes.

No matter what has happened in the lead up to Christmas, the world stands still at this threshold of love. Gone is the struggle, the worry, the work. Now only the celebration, the family, the quiet warmth of a world renewed by the birth of the Prince of Peace.

This quiet birth, in the margins of our world, is captured beautifully in the song lyric which opened our letter. At Christmas, love comes down to us in the most unexpected of ways and the earth stands still- time stands still, as the irreversible celestial movement of God who comes to live with us as our neighbor. A neighbor which means we are connected to God in the most inseparable way possible. A love, a neighbour we celebrate here at St. Francis every week.

So I invite you, my friends, wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith to come home to love this Christmas here at St. Francis. Come and experience the silent awe of a life made whole by the presence of a celestial love that changes us forever.

Bring a friend, Bring two!

From my heart to yours, Merry Christmas!
