Who We Are
An introduction to St. Francis, through the eyes of our parishioners.
"When Ian and I came to Canada several years ago West Vancouver became our home city right from the start. After trying a few churches St. Francis became our spiritual home. St. Francis-in-the-Wood is more than just a beautiful location. It’s a place to worship, to grow your faith, and to continue exploring the spiritual side of life. Explore this website to find out more about all that goes on – join us on Sundays or during the week and feel ‘at home’ in this place too." - Marilyn
"Fiona and I have lived on the North Shore since we were married 33 years ago. We are the parents of ten children, some of whom we gave birth to and some who have joined our family through the gift of adoption. St Francis is our family’s church home and our kids have grown through the Sunday school, youth and young adult groups. Recently we were blessed when our oldest daughter, who was married by Angus, had her baby daughter baptized in St. Francis. St. Francis has always been, and continues to be, an amazing source of love and support for our family. It is our family church." - Luigi
"St Francis is my spiritual home and I love it here. When my husband retired we returned to Vancouver. We moved to West Vancouver and began attending this lovely little church. It was as if St Francis had always been our church. The congregation were so friendly and we soon made many new friends. When my husband died I was helped so much by the love and support of these very dear friends. As I walk in the door on a Sunday morning I can truly feel the love, the kindness and the caring that is here. This is certainly a place where you need never be lonely. There is so much here to be involved in if you so desire, with this church family." - Nell

We have two Sunday morning services at St. Francis-in-the-Wood.
8am - A Holy Communion service using the traditional language found in the Book of Common Prayer (BCP)
10am - A Eucharist service using the more contemporary langauge of the Book of Alternative Services (BAS). This service includes music led either by our choir or intergenerational band. It also includes activities for children and young people aged 4 - 12. This service is followed by tea, coffee and refreshments in the parish lounge.
Worship follows the Anglican tradition. However, all readings, prayers and special instructions are printed each week in our service bulletin. No special knowledge or membership is required!
One of our parishioners, Randy, shares his family's experience:
"Eight years ago Dina and I moved into the area with our two year old twin daughters. We wanted a church for our young family and selected St Francis. Our girls have thrived on the many activities for young children. During our time here we have met and made friends with other families with children that are similar ages. This really is a caring, warm and friendly church community."
