Friends,

I’ll be away this Sunday, taking some vacation time, and the Rev. Harold Munn will be presiding and preaching. Many of you know Harold already—he’s a thoughtful voice, and a trusted friend to this parish.

Even while away, I’ve been sitting with the readings for this week, and they’ve left me wondering.

  • In 2 Kings 5, Naaman expects something dramatic. Healing, if it comes, should come with spectacle. But instead, it comes quietly—in a river, through listening, through letting go.

  • In Galatians 6, Paul reminds us that the work of faith isn’t about appearances. It’s about bearing with one another. Staying steady. Not giving up.

  • In Luke 10, Jesus sends out seventy—not to fix the world, but to bring peace. To depend on strangers. To witness what God is already doing.

None of it’s flashy. But it’s powerful.
Not because it’s loud—but because it’s real.

So I wonder—what if this is the kind of power we need more of right now?
The kind that heals without fanfare.
The kind that restores without control.
The kind that doesn’t try to win, but stays faithful.

I won’t see you on Sunday. But I’ll be holding you in prayer.
And I’ll be listening, in my own way, for where God might be speaking too.

Blessings,

Alex+
