Friends,

Advent involves remarkably little consultation.

One day you’re packing up vendor huts and the last of the biscotti, and the next you realize we’re already deep into the season. Not easing in. Just… in it.

This Sunday we’ll gather again in the middle of whatever week we’ve had. Some of us are probably still floating from last weekend (I am!). Some of us are also still recovering (me too!!). Both are welcome here.

The icon of Francis and the novices is still with us — a small fire in a very large forest. Not answering anything. Not pretending much. Just staying put long enough for something real to happen.

If this season feels full already, you’re not behind. And if it feels strangely empty, you’re not doing it wrong. We’ll take the morning as it comes.

Doors open as usual. The lights will be on. There will be people. And there will be space too (parking you’re on your own for). Come help put the kettle on for someone else if you have time.

See you Sunday. I’ll save you a seat.

Alex+

PS: Carols for Christmas at 3pm Sunday! Bring a friend or two, its going to be stunning.
