“He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
—Micah 6:8

Friends,

Some words don’t need much explaining. Not because they’re easy, but because they already echo in the way we try to live:

Do justice—because people matter.
Love kindness—because grace runs deeper than opinion.
Walk humbly—because we’re in this together.

These aren’t ideas to debate. They’re habits of the heart. And they’ve been shaping this parish for a long time.

As Pride season wraps up in Vancouver—with its colour, energy, and celebration—it’s a good time to name something true:

This, too, belongs to God.
The joy.
The love.
The trust it takes to be visible.
The courage it takes to believe you are beloved.

Pride isn’t a performance. It’s an invitation—into God’s kaleidoscope of grace and humanity. Not to be explained. Just to be honoured.

And I’ve seen us do just that together:

At the table. In hallway conversations. In friendships that take root slowly and hold strong.
Not perfect, but honest. Not flashy, but faithful. And in all of it—something sacred taking shape.

Because what we share isn’t just community. It’s a glimpse—however ordinary—of how God shows up in real life.

Francis of Assisi may not have said it this way, but his life has shaped ours to say: Everything belongs to God, because everything comes from God.

That’s not a flourish. It’s a way of seeing—a way of trusting that every story, every life, already has a place. Not because we made room. But because God already has.

So we keep gathering. And as we do, I give thanks for:

All of God’s dearly and queerly beloved.
For the joy, the friendship, and the courage it takes to live fully and freely in God.
For the stories that brought us here.
For the image of God pulsing through every life.

We carry all kinds of stories. But in this place, I’ve seen what happens when people really show up for one another. A grace that doesn’t shrink. A table that keeps stretching. A love that just won't quit.

And that gives me hope.

Happy Pride, St. Francis!

It’s a gift to be The Church with you.
